nine months old

On Sunday Isla & Alice turned nine months old... or as Andrew likes to refer to it... 3/4.

What they are saying...

Isla's gone a bit silent as of late but for most of the month she was all about dad dad dad dad.

Alice generally says bah... the best are her silent bahs where her mouth moves but no sound comes out.

What they are wearing...

one day I will do a post about how baby clothing is ridiculous, how I get sudden urges and find myself scouring used websites for sewing machines... determined that I will start a company that makes baby clothes that fit long + skinny babies or babies that wear cloth diapers... but for now I will just tell you this... they are in 18 month sleepers... they are 9 months... ridiculous

and then there's the issue of shoes... they are babies... who don't yet walk (and we're in no rush to change that) so they have one pair of robeeze each and that is pretty much their only option when we leave the house.  Now that summer weather is nearing they are in need of some sandals.  Same ridiculousness... fat shoes are everywhere for babies.  Are we the only people out there with skinny footed babies?  I think not.

not that shoes even have a good shot at staying on.  Alice prefers bare feet... in her mouth.

What they are doing

They are so close to crawling.  so. close.

I love to watch them try.  Isla rocks back and forth with sheer determination and Alice drags her body forward on her elbows.  The gates are up.  We're ready.

For now they roll.  They roll off of the carpet and explore the hardwood.  They roll into the kitchen.  They roll to see Heidi.  They roll to go and get a toy.  They roll... all of the time... to get to poppity pop.

nine months is a beautiful age full of giggles (often mine)

happy nine months Alice & Isla

xoxo mommy

  1. BABY CLOTHES! Ugh! My girl is 8 months old and tonight I put a 12 month onesie on her. It was too short, and I couldn't button it. She is long and lean as well. I have her in 12-18 month pants and they fit. I don't mean we have to roll them up to make them fit, I mean, they FIT perfectly in length right now. It's so aggravating. Right now I'm primarily putting her in dresses, tees and leg warmers. I've given up on pants, socks and one-piece anythings. Your girls are adorable. I enjoying seeing how they've grown.

    1. leg warmers are the answer... but what do you put on top? i pair them with onesies and of course onsies that actually fit are seriously hard to come by!

    2. Dresses (we were gifted a lot at the baby shower), tees and tops. Of course if we're going out in public I try to do the dresses, although cloth diapers are so cute as bottoms with a tee.

  2. p.s. We cloth diaper too, and yes, it's frustrating that clothes aren't made to fit cloth diapers. I can't tell you how much I hate the "skinny" pants trend in baby clothes right now.

  3. oooohhhhh they are so cute! They are looking so big, and like absolute joys. Leave it to the engineer to come up with a fraction to describe their age. What, no 75.1245%? :)

  4. I have the same exact issue with my cloth-diapered girls. They're a few days shy of six months, and six month onesies are sleepers are somewhere between "no chance this will fit" and "it fits, kinda." 9 month stuff, which I went and bought a ton of and then acquired from friends a few days later (that ALWAYS happens when I buy baby clothes) are surprisingly not fitting much better. And one pair of pants that fit both of them just fine, even my barely-20th percentile peanut, are 18 month size! Ridiculous. I'm starting to learn which brands of clothing run big, small, etc but I find there's variation even within a brand.

    1. yeah i think nine month cloths are some kind of conspiracy... six month cloths with new tags!

  5. My two are 9 months tomorrow :) I hear you about the clothes! My two are total opposites... Mia is long legged, and Ben has a long torso... and Ben has super fat feet and Mia has super skinny feet! Luckily it never gets too cold where we live, so they are pretty much always barefooted. I did find them sandals that fit recently, but they are so used to not wearing shoes that they hate them, and try with all their might to get them off! With clothes, all they are wearing these days are shorts, skirts and dresses- so happy its warming up!

    1. yeah so I was thinking we'd just let them go barefoot too but Andrew (husband) thought we'd look like shabby parents if we bring them out without shoes. I'm on your side!

  6. I never understand the clothes either. We have the opposite problem though, a short, chubby, fat-footed baby who still wears 0-3 month clothes (sometimes...). I love the silent "bah" does she ever whisper it too? It's the sweetest thing. I can't believe the girls are 9 months already!! Holy cow!

  9. They are so cute! That is wild about the clothes, Avery is in 9-12 months but she is 8 months so that isn't that big of a difference.

How fun, 9 months looks great!
