writing and wandering, the way I am doing nanowrimo

I have been writing a post for as long as I have been not writing one.

Right now I am hunkered down in my parent's basement, in the dark, with an empty glass of wine to my left and my ipad, just in sight, so that I can just see the words as I type them.

No I haven't lost my mind, or at least I don't think so. I had my fifth and hopefully finally Levulan treatment this morning. It's my latest attempt in years to win the war of my hormonal face. Unfortunately it requires total darkness for 24 hours. A difficult feat with twin two year olds and a husband who had seven stitches yesterday.

But I'm here, writing as fast as I can in the dark because I'm doing nanowrimo again and more determined than ever to finish. I did finish last year... in the sense that I wrote more than 50 K in november but I was new to this whole fiction writing world and went in blindly and had a hard time getting past the 50 K. So I wrote another 70 K but didn't finish that either but now I know better. It's not the month that counts, it is what comes after. I love the excitement and support of nano but the isolation of the month after is rough. This time I have a plan and a writing buddy or two.

No, my girls aren't my writing buddies, they're two.

But god they're so big now and talking and doing so many things for themselves.

They're making this writing thing that much easier

  3. nice to hear from you, A. And WOW! Your girls are growing! And getting more beautiful by the minute.
Just wanted to say that you inspired me last year, and I decided to sign up for Nanowrimo this year. So far, so good. I'm just focusing on writing everyday and keeping up my word count (but I'm writing crap). I'm a newbie. Glad to read that the second time around, you feel more prepared and found some writing buddies. Happy writing!
