chaotic recap... nineteenth edition

It's been a while since I did the recap (the bachelor Canada recaps have temporarily taken over - I'll have this week's up soon... I just need to watch it first!).

It's funny how I used to need the weekends, need it to be Friday... I don't feel like that anymore.  I mean I like the weekends because then Andrew is with us but the weekdays don't suck, not at all.  I feel like this has been a funny couple of weeks because I have actually done a bunch of stuff for me (usually I have to reach a bit to fill that part in... unless the gym counts).

Isla and Alice are getting so big (as they always seem to be doing).  Alice is taking major advantage of the fact that she now walks and has taken to approaching big kids with her arms outstretched wanting to give them a big hug (and by big I mean bigger than her... the size of kids that point at my girls and say... those are babies).  Usually her attempts are thwarted by the child running away (which silently kills me just a little)... I want to yell she just wants a hug you monster but I keep it cool and go and give her a hug myself.

the baby/toddler goods...

Isla is frustrated... make that beyond frustrated... that Alice has moved on to walking.  She wants to walk and she wants to walk now.... so we are giving her as much practice as possible but if you happen to have a baby walking secret strategy and you want to share it with me... that would be great.

do you see that blurred wagon (well trailer full of wagons) in the background?  yeah, that's our ride... daycare style.

what I read this week

please please someone suggest something for me to read.  my latest read was Bared to You by Sylvia Day... I desperately need to get out of the bdsm world (at least temporarily)... so what have you read lately and would I like it?

what I did for me this week

what didn't I do!  okay it wasn't that crazy but I did spend most of the day on Saturday out of this house sans babies.  I went to lunch at the village cafe (if you're ever in Ottawa they make the best spinach pecan salad (with bacon and warm dressing) with a good friend and then we went to see Pitch Perfect which was fairly entertaining.  Once a month I meet with three other moms who also have twins, for dinner.  If you have a child or two I urge you... find other moms in the same situation and do drink some wine and eat some good food... it will make you feel very, very sane.  We met last night and it was great.  If I ever have a moment where I feel like my life is insane, I think of these moms and know that my life is just as normal as theirs are.

what I found this week

by bookhou shop
this bag... I love a not too big but not too small across the body bag

also these sunglasses, this dress and this tiny sweater

+

this pep talk by the author of The Time Traveller's Wife & Her Fearful Symmetry (both great reads)... I love how she describes how she never quite wants to finish her book because it's lonely when all of your characters stop talking in your head... I feel the same way about finishing reading a book and will often re-read most of the book again before I actually read the ending (a little crazy I know)

how was your week?

happy weekend!

  1. I wish I had a walking secret for you! Mia has been walking for 4 MONTHS! And it has been killing Ben for 4 MONTHS!!! Just this month at 14 months he has finally started walking and oh my is he a happy camper! I'm sure Isla will be there in no time :) So I totally get you with the whole wanting to yell "She just wants to hug you!" thing! That also goes for when we are shopping and they wave and yell "Hi" to someone and the person ignores them(luckily not often!). I seriously don't know how I'm going to deal with mean kids and them getting their feelings hurt when they get older!

  2. Ash! I just started 'When The Crow Flies' by Anne Marie MacDonald. So far, I love it. It's a deep novel, but this woman is BRILLIANT and the imagery is gorgeous. And no S&M, I promise!

  5. If you're looking for something lighthearted and funny, I recommend Tina Fey's Bossypants. It's super easy to pick up and good for at least a few laughs.

I'm also in the middle of reading A.J. Jacob's, A Year of Living Biblically. He dedicated a year of his life to follow the rules of the Bible. It's an interesting to see how he (and his wife) deal with the lifestyle switch.

Oh, and good luck with the walking!
