Guest Post | Holiday Party High Low (Kelli from Kelli Flores)

I am so excited to have Kelli here today from Kelli Flores. When I first stumbled on Kelli's blog I was immediately drawn to her sense of style. She blogs about clothes I wish I could buy as well as interior updates, and food. Her posts are eye candy. Check them out here.

Hello Calmly Chaotic readers! This is Kelli from the Kelli Flores blog, and I'm so excited to be here at CC to share some fun ideas for a holiday party look. When Ashley first mentioned the idea of a holiday party look, I instantly thought back to this look that I'd seen on Pinterest ages ago, because I think it is the ultimate sophisticated and sparkly look for the holidays. Here's my take on this look, whether you're looking to splurge or save.

High-waisted trousers have become one of my favorite things (remember this look on Rachel McAdams at Cannes?) and I love that vintage look combined with a festive and glittery top. To top off the look, I've thrown in some of my favorite trends of the season. Brightly jeweled accessories are everywhere right now, and I love a great pair of statement earrings. I think anything studded is edgy and fun, so I think studded heel pumps are the perfect amount of glitz for a holiday occasion. And I remember my grandmother having a chain mesh clutch, and even when I was young, I thought that bag was about the best thing that ever happened to the world, so anytime I see one now, I smile from ear to ear because I still think they're pretty awesome.

So these are my picks for a holiday party look that is equal parts fun and sophisticated. Hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday season!

  1. Hey Kelli! I tried on a pair of high-waisted trousers last week and loved them! But quickly realized I have NO shoes to go with them...they're not flat-friendly, IMHO. Heels are on my Christmas list....I LOVE the silver top- very fun! I always think I need to show skin to be sexy, but as I get older I'm learning that shape matters more than anything!

    Thanks for the great post!
